Chess Club at AIAE

Chess is both a sport and a game, requiring endurance and logical thinking skills. The aim of the Chess program is to provide students with the opportunity to develop:

• An understanding of the mechanics of Chess
• The importance of forward planning
• The planning and execution of different strategies
• Logical and progressively in-depth thinking skills
• The value of peer learning and support
• An appreciation for teamwork and unity
• The acceptance of diversity among students

Chess Club Schedule

Lunchtime Chess: Students can play in the library during lunch breaks.
After-School Chess: Running in Term 2, every Monday in the library.
Professional Chess Coaching: Set to begin in Term 2 (TBC).

AIAE competes in various chess tournaments throughout the year, particularly in the Darebin region. Trophies, medals, and certificates are awarded at these tournaments to recognise outstanding players.

Looking ahead to 2025, Ilam will host the first inaugural Islamic Chess Competition, providing students with an exciting new platform to showcase their skills.
